Thanks to all of the members and friends that made this years event a huge success, we had approx. 30 members show for what ended up being a late night for some of us and a hell of a lot of fun for all of us. As with most of our functions I myself always like to get there on the early side cuz you never know what you’re going to miss if you’re late. So when I arrived with my date Jenn. We were advised to hang out in the bar until our room was ready for us, that was good advise that came back to bite me later and you will get those details later as well. We proceeded to the bar where we met of with JM, Scott & Deb, who looked very comfortable and were well on there way to a good evening. We must have been in there for only about a half hour when we were told that we could go to the room & that it was set up for our event. Once I entered the room I knew we were going to have a lot of fun there already was a huge cake set up for desert for us to celebrate Jason's birthday and there was a table set up with gifts already there for the White Elephant Gift Exchange, so Jenn & I staked out a couple of good seats so that we would have not only a good view of the rest of the members but we also wanted to have a view of the goings on with the gift exchange as well. So as you would expect at a party there was a lot of mingling going prior to the first course of grub coming out and once they started with the salad & fresh warm bread then the mingling subsided naturally, but there seem to be more alcohol consumption going on funny how it works out that way.
I must say that the waitresses & staff at Cattleman's did a very good job in taking care of all of us and of course a big thank you has to go to Rosy Cahill & Shae for all of their effort in securing the room and making sure that everything went off without a hitch as it did, also since I'm on a thank you roll we need to also thank Debbie West for her efforts in arranging and the running of the gift exchange, now did any body else notice that this years gift exchange there wasn't a lot of gift stealing like there was last year that tells me that most were satisfied with what they ended up with, just thought I would bring that up. After we got done with salad it wasn't to long before they came out with the main course and I don't know about yours but my dinner was awesome it was cooked to perfection, I really enjoyed the meal and the company. Once we all had our tummies full it was time to move on to the awards portion of the evening, we informed the club of a new award that we are now giving out at the awards dinner it is a club member participation award this years award went to Ted Knight for showing up on just about every run we have regardless of where it was going and showing up at every meeting, then we moved on to the President's award this is an award that is given in recognition of a past Presidents service to the club this years award went to Jason Cahill who was our club President in 2009, Jason did what I thought was an outstanding job considering this guy had to go through not 1 but 2 surgery's for a medical issue, I'm glad to say he went through those just fine, but still he found the time to also run a club so hats off to Jason for all that he has done for this club and that he still does, he has continued his support of the RRMC and is in fact the Vice President for 2010,thanks again Jason your the man.
Last and never least was our recipient for our coveted Member Of The Year Award and this years award went to someone who I feel earns it every year, those of you who were not there probably know who I'm talking about yes that's right the winner was Rosy Cahill who has been our Secretary for a number of years now and who actually thought she was going to get a break this year and at the last minute the member who had volunteered to take on the position bailed out for personal reasons and Rosy came to the clubs rescue, and once again volunteered to continue on as our Secretary for 2010, some of you may not be aware how much this lady does for the club, just to give you an example remember our big public event last year The Carnival Of Motorcycles well her and Shae basically took on the job of organizing and setting up the whole prize raffle portion of the event that we had which was a huge success and is where we earned a lot of the money that was made at that event, so it's not just taking notes at a meeting, not to say that the rest of the volunteers & officers don't do a fantastic job as well, but year after year it's members like Jason , Rosy Shae, Jeremy and others that really keep this club going, now getting back to Rosy & the award I think she was really surprised when Mark Exter President of the RRMC for 2010 called her up to receive her award this had to be one of the most beautiful Member Of The Year Awards that we have ever given out the entire award was made from glass and our logo with Rosy's name and of course what the award was had been etched into the glass itself it was just magnificent, I actually thought I saw a tear in Rosy's eye well sweetie you deserved that award and once again on behalf of the members thank you for all that you do and your continued support.
Now it was time for the White Elephant Gift Exchange, and we need to give a big thank you out to Debbie West for not only putting it all together but also running it as well, and like I previously mentioned there wasn't nearly as much gift stealing as at the event last year which tells me most if not all were satisfied with what they ended up with I know I was very pleased with the super bright led his & hers flashlights that I got, this part of our awards night is always a lot of fun and we should also thank the members for their part for if it weren't for them it wouldn't even happen so that you members for your participation in that part of the festivities. Then it was time for desert and of course a happy birthday sing along for Jason who was celebrating his birthday with the club, man that cake was dam good
Now this is where I must apologize just prior to Rosy getting her award there was to be another award given out and it was but after the gift exchange was over and the cake had been eaten and some members had departed I noticed the award still sitting on the table I had gotten so wrapped up with everything else that was going plus a few cocktails later, that I totally missed giving Jeremy his award in front of all of the members, thank god that there were still a decent amount of us still there but it wasn't what should have happened, I blew it, but now I will explain also awarded on this evening was a Certificate Of Appreciating that was awarded To Jeremy Meininger for all of his work as our newsletter editor and for all of his work in the past, he always volunteers to work our main event and usually does quite a bit of the work, so we wanted him to know that it doesn't go unnoticed not one bit, so although a smaller crowed was present by this time still as they say it's the thought that counts, so Jeremy came up and excepted his well deserved award. In closing I would like to thank all of the organizers who put it all together and of course the members for if it were not for you it wouldn't have happened, thanks for your involvement and continued support of your club The Redwood Riders M.C.
