Monthly Poker Run/Boat House Grill Ride

I must first thank all of the members that showed up for this very fun run. I also would like to thank Jennifer Robertson, our very first female Road Captain; she did a spectacular job of getting us there & back safely. We had approx. 15 members that showed up to do the ride, & it sure was nice to see some faces that we haven't seen in a while. Members like JM & Joe Hemstock, Victory Mike, Terry & Shirleen Perry & of course we were all surprised when Mark Exter showed up on a brand new Big Dog Chopper I mean brand new I think he said that it had 2.3 miles that's new folks. It was really cool watching bike after bike show up not only to support Jennifer on her first official Road Captain run but our monthly poker Run was created to help us raise even more money for The Ride For Kids. Since this club has The Ride For Kids as it's charity then it's very important for us as a club to do whatever we can & when we can to boost our donation that we will be making in October. The monthly Poker Run is just one additional tool that we have to help us do that. So thank to all of you who came out to support the club & The Ride For Kids.

Once we got close to our run meeting time we had to get the poker run sheets distributed to the Members that were willing to do the Poker Run portion of the ride. I happy to report that we had almost 100% of Members doing the poker hand, thank you. For those that couldn't participate, no big deal we would rather have you on the ride if nothing else. Once we got everyone's run sheet to them then it was time to start drawing cards, thanks to the members that helped me get everyone taken care of. After all the cards were drawn for the first card it was time to get this pack of bike moving. We got the bikes staged where we normally do & with Jennifer in front it was time to roll on down the road. Our 2nd card draw was to be in the town of Calistoga at Grahams favorite potty stop. It sure was nice to see as got in to Calistoga the sun, we got to our 2nd stop without incident got parked & began the card draw. For some members it was already looking very interesting, even for myself I was surprised I actually had a straight flush going. We got through drawing the cards & it was time to head to our official 3rd card stop, which was Store 24 in Middle Town. We had got just over Mt St. Helena when I checked the temperature reading at it had jumped 12 degrees. We got parked at Store 24 & then had to shed some of that warmer clothing & put a bit more sun screen on it was getting real nice.

We got all the cards drawn & then it was back on the road again. We continued on Hwy 29 until we got to Lower Lake which is where we made a quick stop at Tower Mart so that a couple of the members could fuel up, and once again shed a few more items of clothing, as the temps were now at about 82 degrees it was just about perfect. We continued on Hwy 29 until we reached Hwy 20 then followed that around Clear Lake until we reached the town of Nice. Once there it was on to Lakeshore Dr. then up a few blocks & we were there. We were all able to basically park all together which was nice put on a bit more sunscreen & then headed over to check in & let them know that The Redwood Riders had arrived. They were very happy to see us they were already doing a booming business. We waited less than 5 minutes then were shown to our tables which just happen to be outside on their large dock right on the water. The temps were a perfect 84 degrees sunny and beautiful, please check out the pictures & you will see what I mean. We all got to sit in the same are all together & got our orders for lunch in right away.

It wasn't to long before we were chowing down on some awesome grub; the food was good & the prices not bad either. We sat there probably close to an hour just enjoying the view & each other’s company as well. We still had poker business to take care, we opted to draw the last two card there at the grill, now before I drew my last to card I was working on a straight flush & after I drew my last two card I had toilet paper, that’s what it was worth, nada. This seems to be a recurring theme except for one Member congrats to Glen Gillis who kicked all of our butts. There was a pot of $90.00 & $45.00 to the winner & $45.00 went to our donation kitty for the Ride For Kid's. Once Glen was paid & the waitress for the food & great service, it was time to say goodbye to Clear Lake & the girls from the grill and head back to our own area. For the return trip to Santa Rosa the group opted to continue on Hwy 20 and follow that until we reach Hwy 101 just above Ukiah and bomb back down the freeway. I know I already said this but thanks to all of you who showed up to support the club, Jennifer & The Ride For Kids, what an awesome time we had.
